Frederic Chopin wrote 21 nocturnes for solo piano between 1827 and 1846. Chopin’s nocturnes are also called “songs of the night”. The nocturne evokes with its very name romantic images of the night, the moon etc. One of the very popular is the early Nocturne in E flat major, Op. 9 No. 2.
