Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was born on 4 March 1678 in Venice, then the capital of the Venetian Republic.
In the day he was born there was an earthquake. And probably it was the reason why he was baptized immediately after his birth. He also had poor health, and it could also be ta reason for the child's immediate baptism. Anyway, because of the trauma of earthquake Vivaldi's mother may have dedicated him to the priesthood. That’s why at age of 15, he was shunted off to join the priesthood.
Antonio Vivaldi is now known as one of the most productive composers of the Baroque era.
